The BMW i8 (development designation l12 for coupé , l15 for roadster) is a plug -in hybrid sports car from BMW. Production ended in 2020 with the delivery of eighteen vehicles.

The design of the BMW i8 coupe prototype was based on the BMW i8 Concept. The model-specific plug-in hybrid system of the BMW i8, developed and manufactured by the BMW Group, consists of a compact 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine with turbocharger , an electric drive and a lithium-polymer battery that can also be charged at conventional household sockets.

The combustion engine sits at the rear and drives with a maximum torque of 320 Nm and an output of 170 kW (231 hp) to the rear wheels. The electric motor with a rated output of 96 kW (131 hp) (from May 2018 105 kW (143 hp)) and 250 Nm of torque transmits its power to the front axle.
The total output is 266 kW (362 hp) (from May 2018 275 kW (374 hp)), which accelerates the vehicle from 0 to 100  km/h in 4.4 s (Coupé; Roadster 4.6 s) and an electronic limited top speed of 250 km/h.

The Windbooster 9-Mode 3S intelligent driving controller is the latest throttle controller from Cammus which features a visual comparison display interface which is unique to the 9-Mode 3S model. This clever interface displays differences between the vehicle factory standard throttle response and throttle response value of the current mode selected, thus the throttle response amplitude variations can be clearly seen.
